Green Wellness‘Workplace wellness programs’ is the buzz term of the modern workplace scenario all across the globe. The main aim of this programs is to prevent or, at least, minimize the unfavorable effects that the wrong conditions in which you work can have for your health.
As we all know, investing in the staff is one of the best and profitable investment that a company can make. Since the good health state of the employees benefits in many ways: increased productivity, superior performance, high morale and reduction of health care expenditures on employees and in a significant reduction of the loss of productivity time caused by the illness of the employees.
On the other hand, workplace wellness programs can encourage an employer sense of being valued by his/her workers. It's the typical win/win situation.

Workplace wellness programs can take many forms. You can keep it simple and just increase awareness of your staff for example, distributing health related literature, newsletters and information. Or you can opt for more complete and elaborate tasks such as: weight loss programs, stress management sessions, on site gymnasiums, alcohol and drug abuse counseling, smoking quitting programs, promotion of and education about nutritional diet, detection and screening of diseases (including cardiovascular ones), fitness programs etc.

The key to the success of workplace wellness programs is finding out through surveys what the employees want. Many workplace wellness programs have lost their momentum and died out owing to lack of interest and participation on the part of employees. Also, it is very important that the senior management not only actively promotes these programs and encourage the employees to take part in them, but also participate themselves. Every workplace opting for a workplace wellness program should appoint an expert in the field who would draw out a suitable healthcare program for the employees and promote it.

Replacing junk food in the office cafeteria with tasty nutritional food and replacing caffeine-based beverages with fruit juices etc. might also give good results. Also, the company should set goals for its workplace wellness program and evaluate it at regular intervals to find out if those goals are being achieved.
